International Day of Play

This week, in celebration of the UN’s International Day of Play on June 11th, we’re spotlighting the power of play, with a special focus on women’s play through The Women In Play Project. The theme for this year is #ChoosePlayEveryDay, and marks a groundbreaking moment as the UN officially recognises the fundamental importance of play for individual development, well-being, societal cohesion, and our collective future.

«Play is life, learning, co-creation and the opportunity to explore new realities. Play is a key to empathy, to community and to understanding both oneself and others,» says UN Live CEO, Katja Iversen, in a recent opinion piece for Globalnyt, read the full article here (in Danish).

Together with The Women In Play Project, we’re highlighting 5 incredible women this week who are reshaping the meaning of play, proving that when we play, we don’t just participate — we redefine the rules and transform the game. Follow the series on UN Live's Instagram page: @museumfortheun.
